The International Juried Show, one of the artistic highlights of the exhibition year at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey. This renowned and highly acclaimed annual juried exhibition draws many entrants from around the world, whose work reflects every art medium. This year, the Art Center received 1600 entries, representing the mediums of painting, drawing, textiles, pastels, prints, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, watercolor, and photography; In addition to the submissions that came from every area of the U.S., entries were received from Austria, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Korea, France, Spain, Belgium, Japan, Germany, Croatia, China, Switzerland, Brazil and the Philippines.

The Art Center proudly welcomed Adelina Vlas, Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, as this year’s juror. Adelina has an M.A. in Art History and a Curatorial Diploma in Visual Cultural from York University in Canada, as well as an M.A. in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art in London where she co-curated the exhibitions Public Smog and Various Small Fires. Previously, Adelina has worked at the National Gallery of Canada. She has written texts for various exhibitions including Live Cinema/Carlos Amorales: Four Animations, Five Drawings, and a Plague (Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2008), Various Small Fires (Royal College of Art, 2007) and Noah’s Ark (National Gallery of Canada, 2004). Her writings have also appreared in ArtAsiaPacific and art in culture (Korea). Adelina is fluent in English, French, Italian and Romanian. Over the last year, she has served as a juror for Global Warming, Ice Box (Philadelphia), and Solid Gold, Vox Populi (Philadelphia).
